Versatile, solid woodwork in the Turku archipelago in Southwest Finland

Joel Simberg

JOEL SIMBERG completed training as a wood craftsman in Turku in 1998. His work in the trade since then has constantly offered new experiences and challenges.

He has, for example, repaired and finished furniture, worked as an interior carpenter, assembled design furniture in Denmark, renovated wooden sculptures, worked for a construction company based far out in the Stockholm archipelago and as a sailor and carpenter on sailing ships and boats worldwide.

After several periods of working for his father Johan Simberg’s professional boatyard, Joel trained in boatbuilding in Skeppsholmen, Stockholm from 2010– 2011.

In 2013, he established his own boatbuilding, woodworking and construction company. Since 2014, his homeport has been in Österretais, a village on Korpo island, where, together with his wife Katja, he is renovating a farmhouse dating back to the 1920s. In the summer, the family sails with their traditional workboat.
